Boogie Woogie meets Dixieland: A musical extravaganza at the Kurhaus Hall in Tirol
On 14 March, the Kurhaus in Hall in Tirol transformed into a bubbling cauldron of rhythms and melodies as “Boogie Woogie meets Dixieland” took the stage. The event, a true feast for the senses. Together with Boogie Kathi & the muddy Bluesmen, the Dixielanders Hall, and special guests like Paul Chuey from the USA, Armin Turri from the band Chevy 57, Franz Posch, a founding member of the Dixielanders Hall, and an audience whose enthusiasm surpassed every note played.
The Dixielanders Hall, a legend in the Tyrolean music scene under the direction of Bernhard Fauster (clarinet & vocals), brought their authentic Dixieland sound to the stage and once again proved their unparalleled professionalism and joy of playing. In their sounds, the tradition of Dixieland jazz lives on, which my grandfather, Artur Rogger, once helped shape on the piano. He shared the stage with them at a time when their music regularly filled the Congresshaus in Innsbruck to the last seat.
That evening, Boogie Woogie and Dixieland flowed seamlessly into each other, created by masters of their craft. Boogie Kathi & the muddy Bluesmen captivated the audience with their energy and deeply rooted, traditional Boogie Woogie & Blues. Paul Chuey, who travelled directly from the USA, thrilled with his unique style and added another nuance to the musical palette. Armin Turri and Franz Posch complemented the ensemble perfectly, adding extra depth and character to the evening.
The opportunity to share the stage with special guests like Paul Chuey, who often performs with renowned bands like the Mojo Blues Band, and Armin Turri, the leader of the most famous ball band in western Austria, is an outstanding experience for me every time. Not long ago, I stood as a visitor at concerts or balls, listening to the captivating sounds and admiring the musicians for their art. Today, standing side by side with these extraordinary talents fills me with deep gratitude. It is an honour to work with such incredible musicians whose passion and skill bring music to life and captivate the audience. These experiences on stage are priceless and a dream come true for any musician.
What also made this evening special was not only the excellent music or the gathering of extraordinary talents. It was also the atmosphere, shaped by an audience that not only appreciated every note played but lived it. The energy that flowed back and forth between the musicians and the audience created an incomparable experience, a memory that will find a permanent place in the hearts of all present.
For me personally, it was more than a concert; it was a journey through time, a bond between generations expressed in the universal language of music. Standing on stage with a band that had already played with my grandfather, and with such great and professional local and international musicians, was a moving experience. It was as if the circle was closing, as if past and present were uniting in the sounds of Dixieland and Boogie Woogie.
“Boogie Woogie meets Dixieland” at the Kurhaus Hall in Tirol was not just a concert, it was a demonstration of the power of music to unite people, connect generations, and create memories that last a lifetime. It was an evening that showed how vibrant the music scene in Tirol is and always will be, carried by musicians who love their art and an audience ready to celebrate every note.
