Vienna, the city with music at its heart, recently hosted our small yet exquisite tour with “Boogie Kathi & the muddy Bluesmen”. This journey was not just a musical adventure, but also a profound festival of learning and experience.
A touch of blues at Café Korb: The start of our musical journey
Our performance at the charming Café Korb, alongside It’s Daym, was the perfect start. The atmosphere in this Viennese gem set the right mood to showcase our blues and boogie-woogie. But that was just the beginning.
At the Louisiana Blues Pub: Meeting Hannes Kasehs and a surprise guest
At the legendary Louisiana Blues Pub, surrounded by images of great blues legends, we met Hannes Kasehs. Hannes, a stalwart in the Austrian blues scene, impressed not only with his talent but also with his deep connection to music. Here, in this historically rich setting, we felt truly honoured to play. Yet the highlight of our tour was the unexpected visit from Peter Müller.
Peter, known as one of the most distinguished drummers in the field of Boogie Woogie & Blues, spontaneously supported us on the snare. It was fascinating to see how he conjured such a wealth of sound and rhythm from a single drum, the snare. His artistry enriched not only our music but also our understanding of the depth of the genre.
A dive into the depths of blues: Musical encounters and learning processes
Playing with such greats of the Austrian blues scene is not only incredibly enjoyable but also an inexhaustible source of learning. As musicians from Tyrol, we feel honoured every time we share the stage with such outstanding talents. Each performance with them is a dive into the depths of blues, an experience that expands and deepens our musical understanding.
Particularly remarkable is the way these experienced musicians communicate with the audience and fellow musicians during a song. This ability to capture the mood of the moment and let it flow into the music is something we constantly practice and perfect. Each performance becomes a huge joy and at the same time an indispensable learning process. Playing at the Louisiana Blues Pub, amidst memories of American and Austrian blues legends, was a particularly uplifting experience. It is a place that breathes the history and soul of blues, and playing there felt like a recognition of our own musical journey.
Our Vienna tour with “Boogie Kathi & the muddy Bluesmen” was more than just a series of performances; it was an encounter with the history of blues, an exchange with masters of the genre, and a deep dive into the world of boogie-woogie and blues. These experiences shape us not only as musicians but also as lifelong students of music.
